How long does the process take using Switchtrader.com?
The length of the auto lease transfer process is not determined by Switchtrader.com, decisions regarding the acceptance and or rejection of an auto lease buyers seeking to assume an auto lease is the prerogative of the leasing company. It can be said the process varies between companies with some completing the process in a single day while others may take several days. Their process is twofold,(1) Credit approval, which can take two to three days,(2) The processing of the relevant transfer documents for buyer and seller which includes the mailing of said documents to both parties. The general turnaround time from start to finish is about three weeks.
How often are Switchtrader.com’s listings updated?
Our listings are updated immediately after each post at Switchrader.com in other words, “updated in real time” that includes any and all changes made after the initial post by the auto lease seller.
Can a transfer be done if I’m in another State?
It’s very common for auto lease transfers to occur between people in different states. Vehicle transportation can be arranged with one of our lease partners (link.. lease partners page) It’s also very common practice to have negotiations between both parties to determine who pays the transport costs as this can be an incentive used by a motivated auto lease seller.
After starting the transfer process can I back out?
Yes the transaction can be stopped at anytime EXCEPT after the transfer documents have been signed. Fees collected by Switchtrader.com would be considered earned and therefore not refundable.
Who pays the transfer costs?
Transfer costs are subject to negotiations between both parties, there are no hard and fast rules governing this.
Who pays possible lease-end charges?
The auto lease buyer would be responsible for any penalties imposed by the sellers leasing company, these fees may include excess wear and tear assessments, disposition and or excess mileage fees. All possible lease-end charges would have been listed in the original lease document.
Where do I return the vehicle at the end of the lease?
This varies between auto leasing companies as each company has different turn in polices, however in some cases the vehicle can be returned to a local dealership even if the vehicle originated in another state.
Is a lease transfer or assumption the same as a sub-lease?
Not at all, A Switchtrader.com brokered lease transfer or assumption is a bona-fide transfer of obligation sanctioned by the leasing company that originated the auto lease. Switchtrader.com does not promote or advocate subleasing in any way shape or form. The use of the Switchtrader.com website for the purpose of promoting a sublease or finding a sublease would be contrary to our policy and would be in direct violation of our user agreement.
